Orientation Leader Position Overview
Orientation Leader's aide new students and families in their transition to Berkshire Community College (ºìÐÓÖ±²¥). Through a variety of experiences and opportunities, Orientation Leaders have the power to make a positive and lasting difference in the ºìÐÓÖ±²¥ community and develop great leadership and résumé-building skills in the process.
This is a paid position.
Job Duties
- Serve as official ambassador to the ºìÐÓÖ±²¥ campus.
- Serve as a positive role model to new students and their families.
- Develop an expanded knowledge of ºìÐÓÖ±²¥.
- Conduct campus tours for new students, schools, classes, and guests.
- Represent ºìÐÓÖ±²¥ during college events.
- Assist with the organization, preparation, implementation, and evaluation of the New Student Orientation cycle and related programs and events.
- Acquaint new students with campus services, activities, facilities, and campus rules and regulations.
- Follow-up with student connections.
- Work with diverse populations.
- Work on calling campaigns.
- Provide tips on being a successful student.
- Assist with variety of office related tasks.
- Demonstrate a high standard of professionalism at all times.
- Demonstrate strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
- Exhibit leadership, initiative, dependability, discipline and enthusiasm.
- Maintain professional appearance and demeanor.
- Possess an enthusiastic, positive attitude and be willing and eager to provide excellent customer service.
- Provide office support to the Student Engagement Center.
- Attend leadership training.
- Most importantly, must want to have fun!
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be a ºìÐÓÖ±²¥ student.
- Ability to work flexible hours
Position will run one-year cycle, July 2025 – May 2026

Orientation Leaders
- Training could begin after July 1
- Campus tours one day per week over the summer (six hours)
- Small tasks such as; mailing of postcards, phone calls (three hours in August)
- Week of Orientation – Prep and Day of
- First week of classes – Welcome Week events and greeters
- Falcon Fest
- Hire two permanent – Campus Tours and weekly hours
- Hire additional four to be trained for Orientation Day
Internship — Update Online New Student Orientation
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for updating the online orientation modules with new information, including academic program changes, campus updates, student support services, and important deadlines.
- Ensuing accurate and up-to-date information within the Moodle Platform.
- Assist in visually appealing and engaging content within the online platform, including graphics, videos, and interactive elements.
- Work with the Coordinator of Student Engagement to develop new content and features for the online platform, ensuring alignment with overall orientation goals.
- Consider the student experience when updating content, ensuring information is clear, concise, and relevant to new students.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in learning management system (LMS) like Moodle or similar platforms.
- Basic graphic design skills and familiarity with design software.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in information.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with different stakeholders.
- Basic understanding of web development principles and accessibility guidelines.
- Ability to work independent and within a deadline.
